Our Residents Could Live Anywhere.
They Choose Here.
When a loved one is diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, it can be difficult in all aspects of daily life. Gradual behavioral changes and medication management can be extremely challenging. The mission of Frontier Memory Care communities is to help families find a safe and enriching setting for their loved one, where all of their needs will be met.
It’s easy to see why every year, so many of us opt to head south. A few minutes on-site and you’ll get it, too. Of course, most of our residents called Florida home long before taking up residence here at The Greens. We’re situated next to the neighborhood Country Club on just under 7 beautiful acres. So wander and discover. Bring a fishing pole, a friend, or just your thoughts. Our property also offers a year-round swimming pool, a putting green, ample outdoor seating, a pond-side dock and gardening opportunities.
What is Memory Care?
Memory Care is a specialized level of care that focuses specifically on older adults with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other memory-related illnesses. Residents live onsite in a highly supportive community, where they have 24-hour access to a wide range of care options.
Memory Care residents receive extra help with many different tasks from specialized caregivers. These friendly and compassionate staff members monitor residents’ well-being and attend to each person’s unique needs.
At Frontier, our caregivers go above and beyond to ensure your loved one is not only safe and secure, but also living a purposeful life.
We believe Memory Care residents should live in an environment that:
- Encourages autonomy and self-expression.
- Provides a structure which supports memory retention.
- Ensures each resident’s healthcare and long-term care needs are met.
Frontier’s Award-Winning SPARK™ Program for Residents with Dementia or Alzheimer’s
Imagine a program specially designed for seniors living with dementia that not only strives to help them reach their full potential, but also provides an opportunity for them to spend their days with a sense of joyful purpose.
Frontier’s award-winning SPARK program is just that.
SPARK was inspired by the teachings and research of Maria Montessori and provides meaningful and life-enhancing experiences for people with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
The program focuses on engaging our residents with proven rehabilitative strategies that strive to heighten interaction, optimize cognitive skills as well as promote a sense of purpose and accomplishment despite what deficits may be present.
Our communities use tailor fit assessment tools to evaluate each resident’s capabilities and strengths, so the program can best meet their unique needs.
The objective of SPARK is to bring joy and a genuine sense of meaning and accomplishment to our seniors’ everyday lives.
Residents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities based on their personal interests and abilities. Whether it be working in the garden, maintaining bird feeders, dancing, attending Yoga classes, visiting horse stables and interacting with animals, going on supervised walks in nature or spending time with pet therapy dogs, SPARK offers something for everyone.
In addition, one of our most popular programs is Culinary Club, where our residents work directly with our chefs, taking bus trips to gather ingredients and then preparing and cooking meals themselves to enjoy with one another. These activities go way beyond what the average senior living community offers. They become important and meaningful parts of the lives of our residents. Our seniors have also participated in other exciting activities like Reading Club, bowling outings and even the opportunity to brew their own beer!
Through our SPARK program, we get to see our residents’ eyes light up when they take part in activities that provide meaning.
We celebrate our seniors as the unique individuals that they are by providing them both meaningful experiences and proven therapeutic techniques. This helps them retain their cognitive capabilities to the fullest extent possible.
The Four Pillars of the Frontier SPARK Program for Assisted Living & Memory Care Residents.
The effectiveness and success of our SPARK program for Assisted Living and Memory Care residents is based on these 4 foundational pillars.
#1 Social Roles
Everyone has a desire to be useful, so we ensure that each resident has a role in the community. Working the front desk or serving neighbors are examples of meaningful tasks that empower and connect residents.
- #2 Skills Focused
Our Montessori Assessment Tool, created by the Center for Applied Research in Dementia, uncovers remaining skills often missed by traditional assessments. We can than strengthen and build on those identified skills.
- #3 Procedural Memory
Skills can be learned or improved through “procedural learning.” This repetition then allows routine activities to be performed with less need for concerted concentration.
- #4 Progression & Goal-Setting
By working on projects or learning topics over a longer period of time, always progressing toward a goal, residents become fully engaged and feel more successful.
When is it Time for Memory Care?
The effects of dementia or Alzheimer’s can vary from person to person, but here are some good guidelines to follow as it relates to determining when it might be a good time to transition your loved one to a Memory Care community.
- Neglecting Personal Care
- Increasing Confusion
- Wandering off or Getting Lost
- Weight Changes due to lack of eating
- Problems Managing Medication
Memory-Illness Diagnosis
A diagnosis with early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease or a form of Dementia is jarring for a family and is the most clear-cut sign you’ll need to consider some long-term living options at some point.
Home Care Becomes Strenuous
Many families engage in at-home caregiving, oftentimes enlisting professionals for a little extra help. But when that personal care routine becomes too strenuous due to increased memory loss, enrolling in a skilled nursing community becomes increasingly appealing.
Consider Social Interaction
You can avoid the adverse effects of spending too much time alone by enrolling your loved one in a Frontier Memory Care Community, where they will have access to many social activities and new friends.
The Greens is Ready to Help.
The compassionate and caring team at The Greens truly understands how difficult it can be to see both the physical and cognitive effects that Dementia or Alzheimer’s can have on a loved one. We are here to help you decide if a Memory Care community would be the best option for them.
